You Can Workout At Home
Don’t let the cost of a gym membership keep you from getting into shape. With the current number of wonderful workout videos including some great Pilates DVDs there is no reason anyone should feel they can’t get the workout they need right at home. Mari Windsor has some of the best Pilates DVDs on the market and you can’t go wrong with any one of them. There are a number of beginner level videos you may want to start with so you don’t get discouraged.
The beauty of Pilates is the fact that you can engage in it without having a whole bunch of equipment. For most people they simply need a mat, a balance ball and maybe, if they really want, some Pilates or resistance bands. Beyond that, there isn’t much else you need to get in incredible shape. The only thing you may eventually want is a Pilates machine which will enhance your workout, but it isn’t something a beginner is going to need to be successful.
Some of the pitfalls of working out at home are obviously the distractions your house can provide for you. The phone, someone at the door, the kids needing help with their homework or any number of other items can get you off track on your workout. For most people who work out at home, it’s not the interruptions during the workout that stop them, it’s the ones that show up right before you begin your workout. Seeing that pile of laundry in the corner can be a huge mental struggle to ignore until after you’re done. For this reason, many people prefer the atmosphere they find at the gym. There’s something about being in a gym that gets you thinking about working out only.
Another item that can be discouraging about working out at home is the loneliness of it all. When you go to the gym you get to hang out with a bunch of people who have your mindset about being healthy and a lot of great conversations take place before and after class. You certainly won’t have that home unless you find a friend who is also interested in getting in shape and not spending the money needed to join a gym.
