Nothing is worse than sitting down at the table after a meal and you feel your pants get a little tighter as you watch in horror as your stomach spills over your waistline. It tends to be the last area to go for most people when it comes to burning off fat.

1.       Cutting out sugar and white flour

Possibly the most challenging step on how to lose stomach fat begins with our diet. One of the hardest things I had to do was cutting down on food products containing sugar and white flour. In a single trip to the grocers, check under the label. You would be surprised to find all of the healthy things that you eat are actually heavily loaded with simple sugars, and white flour.

Instead of your ordinary sucrose (simple sugar), try natural sugar substitutes that are easier to metabolize like honey and fruit.  White flour is harder to cut down on because of its prevalence in many of the food stuffs we eat and serve.

Avoid breaded foods altogether and choose whole wheat products instead. Most labels will tell you if your purchase is either whole wheat instead of white. Moreover, most restaurants and bakeries have whole wheat options available as well.

2.       Limit your food portions:

In order not gain weight and lose stomach fat fast, limit your daily caloric intake.  A dietician may help you put together a standard menu and even instruct you to take numerous meals of 200-400 calories throughout the course of the day, separated every 2-3 hours between these meals instead of 3 meals a day.

It may seem like a lot, but a lot of people would be appalled if they knew how many unnecessary calories they guzzle down have nothing to do with the main course, and in fact, have no nutritional benefit such as dressings, additives and soft drinks.

Consuming smaller portions during meals means the lesser calories you will store. This is a great way to lose stomach fat fast, if you space it out over the course of the day, your body metabolism’s fat burning capabilities will work much faster.

3.       Core Exercises

Maybe the best way to lose stomach fat is to go headstrong into the most effective solution – Exercise.  There are a lot of core exercises that work very well like crunches, leg lifts, and instituting exercise balls.

Fitness clubs often instructs people to go for exercises that get the whole body moving. As you work out other areas of the body, look for core synergistic type exercises that involve all areas of your body as well. Yoga is an excellent example of this.
